City commences with road resurfacing in Athlone

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises residents, road users and businesses of the re-grading of roads in Highlands Estate; Knole Park and along Schaapkraal Road in Philippi. The roadworks has commenced and is anticipated to be completed by Thursday, 14 December 2023, provided there are no unforeseen delays.  

The work will be done on weekdays from 07:00 until 17:00.

The traffic will be accommodated under temporary stop/go controls during the hours of construction and where possible, traffic will be detoured around the site.

'Our Roads Infrastructure Management team will be re-grading and freshening up the look of Schaapkraal Road and various other roads in the Knole Park and Highlands vicinity of Philippi. We anticipate some traffic congestion and ask that residents in the area cooperate with the staff on the ground and are patient while the works are under way so that we can get the road marking done as efficiently as possible,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
